A corner bookshop called Boekhandel Jimmink …
A Rather historic shop established in 1931, where Anne Frank chose her world famous diary the day before her birthday, accompanied by her father. The bookshop was called Boekhandel Blankevoort back then. That red checkered pattern diary was ultimately her thirteenth’s birthday (12 June 1942) present.

Inside the bookshop, it is a tight situation. Full of history books!
There is a children’s book corner. A small wall featuring all the books about Anne Frank in different languages. Also, new magazines, greeting cards, cook books, novels, and more, piled up everywhere. The bookshop is a maze to navigate! Have a browse a round or just ask if you are looking for a particular book in mind. The owner is kind and friendly with extensive knowledge of history lesson around the neighbourhood.
Nearby, there is an Anne Frank monument at Merwedeplein park that was initiated by Gert-Jan Jimmink, owner of Jimmink Bookshop, in 2004. More about it on the next blog.
